Silver Jubilee
Dear Friends and Supporters of Vimokkharam,
From its early beginnings in 1998, receiving blessings from Luangta Maha Boowa and the admonishment to keep it "small and simple!", to its inclusion in 2006 as a branch monastery of Wat Nong Pah Pong, to the fire that destroyed the main facilities in early 2014, and to its eventual rebuilding - completed in 2022, it has been a long and winding road for the hermitage since monks first came to live on the premises -- 25 years to be exact!
On Sunday the 23rd of July, we will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the hermitage as a place of Dhamma practise for a small community of monks and a wider community of laypeople. As part of our celebration, we have invited Tan Ajahn Khemānando to join us for the occasion. Ajahn Khemānando is the former abbot of the hermitage and hasn't been back to Melbourne since stepping down and returning to Thailand shortly after the fire. He will be with us from July 13th until July 24th, if anyone would like to see him and catch up with him.
We invite you all to join us in welcoming back our former abbot and celebrating a quarter century of wholesome Dhammas with us on the 23rd.
Very best wishes,
Ajahn Hāsapañño
